Coronavirus Alert | West Jaiñtia Hills extends curfew relaxes some business activities
In compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and to prevent the spread of Corona virus disease, the District Magistrate, West Jaiñtia Hills District has extended curfew in the whole District from 6 AM of 24th April, 2020 until further notice.
In addition prohibits assembly of more than five person in public area and premises beyond the individual households.
Operation of public and private transport.
Operation of all market and commercial establishments in West Jaintia Hills District,
Movement in public Places without mask and spiting in public places.

All Fair Price Shops under NFSA and NON-NFSA will open every day from 24th April, 2020 from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
Workshops for maintenance of Government Ambulances, Government Vehicles on COVID-19 duties identified by the District Transport Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai are allowed to operate.
Commercial and private establishments dealing in Essential Goods as per Government of Meghalaya Order identified by Headman of concerned localities shall open for wholesale on Tuesday and Friday from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM and Retail on Wednesday and Saturday from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM
Courier services for essential goods, e-Commerce operations in essential goods as per Government Order,
Common services centres as per Government Order,
services provided by Self-employed persons, the Electrician, IT repairs, Plumbers, motor mechanics, and carpenters.
Shops for repair of trucks on highways identified by District Transport Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai.
Hardware stores identified by Headmen of concerned localities for providing items like CGI sheets, cement etc that are used for construction including transportation of the same shall operate on Wednesday and Saturday from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM
Electrical Shops identified by the Headman of concerned localities shall open on Tuesday and Friday from 9.00 AM to 4. 00 PM
Industrial Establishments both Government and Private like the Food processing industries in rural areas outside the limits of Municipal Corporations and municipalities including rice mills and mustard oil processing will be allowed to operate.
Bricks kilns in rural areas outside the limits of Municipal Corporations and Municipalities will also be allowed to operate.
All agriculture and allied sectors activities like farming operations including livestock farming. Poultry, Fishery and Hatcheries, collection, processing and distribution of milk and milk products, mandis by APMC, procurement and marketing of agricultural produce, custom, hiring centres, harvesting and sowing, cold storage and warehouse, manufacturing packing and distribution of agriculture inputs, seeds, animals feed and fodder, movement of sowing and harvesting related machines, implements as Per Government advisory order.
Operation of tea industry including plantation with maximum 50% of workforce for production, processing and marketing.
Transportation of all agricultural products subject to transit point and route specified by Deputy Commissioner.
Veterinary Hospitals, Dispensaries, Clinics, sale and supply of medicine and vaccines.
MGNREGA works are also allowed with strict implementation of social distancing and face mask with priority given to irrigation and water conservation as per guidelines issued by C& RD Block.
Construction activities include construction of roads, irrigation projects, buildings and all kinds of industrial projects including MSMEs in rural areas outside the municipal corporation and municipalities and all kinds of project in the industrial estates to be identified by the Deputy Commissioner which are urgent in nature in consultation with the work department as per SOP.
Quarrying of chips and aggregates extracted from legal sources (under MMMCR 2016) and crushed in approved stone crusher unit are allowed for transportation for construction works within the District with PASSES to be issued by Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial) West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai.
All Medical officers and Staff of Health Department, Government of Meghalaya with PASSES issued by District Medical and Health Officer, West Jaintia Hills.
All officers and staff of the Department of Government working with Corona Care Centres and Quarantine facilities with passes issued by the District head of office.
Government Employees of district head and other Essential officers working on COVID- 19 matters with passes issued by District Head of office.
Movement or vehicles carrying fodder and animal products with PASSES issued by the District A H & Veterinary Officer, Jowai.
Movement of Vehicles carrying fertilizer and Power Tillers with PASSES issued by the District Agriculture Officer, Jowai.
Movement of Water Tanker with PASSES issued by the Executive Engineer, PHE, Electrical Division, Jowai.
Movement of Vehicles carrying Areca Nuts and Beetle Leave with PASSES issued by the District Magistrate. West Jaintia Hills District. Jowai or Addl. Deputy Commissioner, in charge Amlarem (Civil Sub-Division, Amlarem.
Movement of Vehicles carrying Broom Sticks with necessary permission issued by the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai.
Movement of Vehicles carrying Essential Commodities, LPG Cylinders, Security Forces, Medical Equipment along the National Highway, however, drivers are subject to screening as per laid down protocol.
The Order will not affect the arrangement made for identified Local Retailers, Groceries Shops which shall open on Wednesday and Saturday of the week from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM and identified Wholesalers on Tuesday and Friday of the week from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
All Curfew Passes issued before 16th April, 2020 are suspended for the curfew period from 6.00 AM of 24th April, 2020 until further Orders.
