Coronavirus: Total curfew to continue in West Jaintia Hills | garments, electrical and shoes shops to open
West Jaintia HIlls District Administration on Saturday has extended the total curfew in entire district from 5 Am of June 7 till 5 Am of June 14.
The order was issued in view of the continuous sharp spike in COVID-19 cases with positivity rate on the rise in West Jaintia Hills District, and hospital bed occupancy nearing saturation.
District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, Garod LSN. Dykes, IAS, in his order restricted Inter-State movement of persons is restricted. The order will not apply for transit vehicles of Assam / Tripura / Manipur / Mizoram. All Transit Vehicles shall not be permitted to park in any inhabited Villages along the NH -06 (Old Name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
Inter-District or Intra-District movement of persons is not permitted. No person is to step out without valid reasons. Vehicles plying without passes will be liable for strict penalties. Any one in defiance of orders is liable for arrest.
Political, Public, Social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conference meetings and training.
Entry of Tourist from outside the State shall not be permitted and all tourists spots shall remain closed.
Sports activities are not permitted.
All Educational, Coaching, Training Institutions etc. shall remain closed. However, during this period all Institutions shall maintain the classes through online teaching.
All Weekly markets shall remain closed.
Places of religious worship shall remain closed.
All Private Offices shall remain closed, except those providing essential services.
In-situ construction works for Government and Private Projects that do not involve movement of labour are permitted with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner /Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
E-commerce activities, courier service and home delivery services will be permitted with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Hardware stores will be permitted strictly on need basis and with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Weddings are not permitted.
Automobile Workshop and Automobile Spare Parts shops will be permitted strictly on need basis with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Opening of Essential (Retails) Shops strictly in the in respective localities/village on Tuesday and Friday between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
Opening of Essential (Wholesales) located in Jowai Town • or Jowai Town, Mihmyntdu, Ialong and Amlarem on Monday and Thursday between 9.00 Am to 4.00 PM. For Thadlaskein Block and Laskein Block on Wednesday between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM.
Opening of Garments/Electrical /Shoe Shops on Monday and Wednesday between 9.00 Am to 4.00 PM.
Banks having Government transactions and Post Office shall function with limited staff. However, other banks having no urgent and Government transaction shall remain closed.
The order states that Suspension of Border Trade through Tamabil Dawki has been lifted. Sub-Divisional Officer Amlarem, shall issue separate order for regulation of the operation strictly as per SOP for operation of border trade issued by Commerce and industries Department, Govt. Meghalaya
In addition, SDO Amlarem shall encourage Vaccination of Truck Drivers and other persons engaged in Border Trade and also to ensure that sanitization of Trucks should be carried out as per laid down standard.
Exemptions:
- Health services including Vaccination Person(s) moving for vaccination should be able to produce proof of COWIN registration and slot booking.
- Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.
- Movement of Essential goods.
- Movement for medical emergencies.
- Persons travelling on Essential Government Duty viz;
a. Medical Teams and Officials on COVID-19 Duty.
b. Police, Security and Armed Forces.
c. Civil Defence and Home Guards.
d. Fire and Emergency Services.
e. Electricity. f. Water Supply (PHE).
g. Municipal Services.
h. Public Distributions System
i. Information and Public Relations
j. Telecommunication Services.
k. Movement of persons and materials for construction of Oxygen Plant in MCH Jowai with valid identity card.

8. Petrol Pump.
9. LPG distributors.
10. MGNREGA works in rural area.
11. Farming activities M rural areas (Mcluding betel nut and betel leaf)
12. Essential Veterinary services includMg feed and fodder movement for livestock for farmers.
13. Fair Price Shops subject to mandatory wearing of face mask, social distancing of 2 metres and hand hygiene.

15. Funeral/last rites restricted to 10 persons only with intimation to the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District / Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sub-Division.
For Medical Emergency and Inter-District Transportation of Essential Goods, the citizens are advised to apply for the ‘EPASS’ from the District portal: westjaintiahills.gov.in
