CORP push back 50 illegal migrant labourers

SHILLONG: The Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP), a constituent member of the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organization (CoMSO), on Monday conducted checking against illegal labourers at Umroi area in Ri Bhoi District.

The checking is part of the direct action to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state following delay of the Centre to response to the ILP resolution passed by the Meghalaya government.

Over 50 labourers working in the different companies at Umroi were found to be without valid documents and were immediately pushed back, CORP president Bandari Ryntathiang said.

He said the CORP along with the CoMSO will continue the checking against illegal immigrants in the state.
