COVID-19 containment measures extended in West Jaintia Hills
West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate, Garod LSN Dykes on Saturday has extended the corona night curfew as a part of Containment Measures in District with immediate effect in order to safeguard the District from an uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases
Night Curfew will start from 8.00 Pm to 5.00 Am daily.
Restricted Activities
Engagement/ Marriages ceremonies outside religious places/places of worship and Funeral gathering restricted to 20 persons with prior permission of the Commissioner/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Wedding reception is not permitted. All weekly markets shall remain closed.
Inter-State movement of persons shall continue to be restricted. However this does not apply for transit vehicles of Assam/Tripura/Manipur Mizoram. All Transit Vehicles shall not be permitted to park in any inhabited Villages along the National Highway NH-06 (old name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya

The order allows 50% of shops to open at Iawmusiang, CNI Market, lawchyiap (JPC Market), Iaw Seinraj and Iawthymme, Ladthalaboh, Jowai to be strictly followed and regulated by the Market Committees between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM.

Essential and non-Essential Shops are permitted to open from Monday to Saturday between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM.
The Lay –By Market Ialong is permitted to open on Odd/ even numbers from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM subject to strictly following the SOP of the Lay-by Market committee. Vehicles for transportation of vegetables are not allowed to enter Jowai Town.
Construction activities including road construction etc, economic activities and Courier Services are permitted subject to strictly maintenance of Covid Protocols.
Banks and Banking Services, Post & Telegraph and Telecommunication Services, Central and Government Offices are allowed to function at 100% strength and shall close at 5.00 Pm daily.
The order has allowed 50 % movement of public transport within the district with 50% of the existing capacity for movement of persons from 9.00 am to 6.00 Pm.

All vehicles coming from West Jaintia Hills are directed to park in Boucher Road, Shillong.
Drivers are to ensure that all passengers wear masks and that there is proper social distance among them.
Operation of Border Trade through Tamabil ICP Amlorem Sub -Division, West Jaintia Hills District subject to strict follow with the SOP issued by the SDO (Civil) Amlarem. In addition, SOPs and other Protocols already put in place or being put in place by the Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to contain spread of Covid-19 which must be strictly complied with.
Dorbar Shnong Meetings, Trainings, Official and Private Programmes are permitted with prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai /Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Private vehicles are allowed to ply 100 percent within West Jaintia Hills District.
Skill Training Programme (both Government and Private) are allowed to resume subject to compliance with the SOP issued by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and with prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Religious Places/Places of worship are permitted to re-open with maximum number of persons allowed during service should not exceed 50% of the seating capacity. Solemnization of marriages in religious places/places of worship shall be as per the SOP issued by Home (Political) Department.
Individuals must strictly maintain a minimum distance of 5 feet.
Gymnasiums/Yoga Institutes/fitness Centres are permitted to re-open subject to prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
Movement of skilled manpower for construction activities subject to prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem
Public Parks having regulated entry are permitted to open to vaccinated persons with due intimation to the Deputy commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai /Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.
The following sports activities are permitted subject to compliance with the SOPs issued by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department for resumption of Recreational and Competitive Sports vide No.SYA 91/2020/7, Dt. 7.12.2020 subject to obtain prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai/Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem.

b. Indirect Contact Sports viz: Golf, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker,
Weightlifting and Billiards
c. Minimal-Contact Sports viz: Football, Hockey. Volleyball, Basketball, Handball and criket for training purposes only by Sports Clubs and Associations
d. Sports competitions for (a) (b) and (e) above only officials are allowed and no spectators

The District School Education Officer/Sub-Divisional School Education Officer shall monitor for strict compliance of the SOP issued by Education Department, Govt. of Meghalaya.
Tourism for local, domestic and international tourists are allowed to open.
The Tourist Officer, West Jaintia Hills District shall monitor for strict compliance of the SOP issued by Tourism Department, Govt. of Meghalaya Dt 28.8.2021.
Citizens are requested to restrict themselves within their respective places in order to contain the further spread of Covid-19 cases.

All permitted activities are subject to strict compliance to these guidelines and the social distancing protocols issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
The District Magistrate has further directed the public to continue wearing Face Mask/ Covering mouth and nose when moving around and not to spit & smoke in the public place including shops and work places. Any violation penalty will be imposed on violators by the Designated Officers who have been empowered under section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
