COVID-19 death toll in Meghalaya touches 1400-mark
The death toll in Meghalaya touched the 1,400-mark on Wednesday with three more people dying after being tested for COVID-19.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 2 cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from South West Khasi Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 169 new COVID-19 cases. These include 95 in East Khasi Hills, 40 West Khasi Hills, 20 Ri Bhoi, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 2 West Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 166 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 69 are from West Khasi Hills, 62 East Khasi Hills, 12 South West Khasi Hills, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 7 Ri Bhoi, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 3 West Garo Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 81,161 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,693 are active cases, 78,068 recovered and 1,400 deaths.
With 828 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 374 cases and Ri Bhoi 207.
There are 175 in West Jaintia Hills, 44 South West Khasi Hills, 28 West Garo Hills, 22 East Jaintia Hills, 6 East Garo Hills, 5 South West Garo Hills, 2 South Garo Hills and 2 North Garo Hills.
