COVID-19 | Meghalaya provides free provision kits for all quarantine families
The state government has decided to provide free provision kits for households of individuals returning to the state during the quarantine period.
The Commissioner & Secretary Chief Minister’s Secretariat in a statement said as per the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for entry into Meghalaya issued by the Political Department on April 30, all individuals returning to the state will have to register with the government and be under home quarantine along with their families for a period of 14 days. These individuals are also mandated to download the Corontine App of the state government.
The statement said that the past month’s experience on home quarantine suggests that local communities have been proactive in supporting the quarantined families to procure essential items and daily necessities.
“To further alleviate the discomfort of the families and to ensure that they do not have to step out of home, Provision Kits will be provided to quarantined families free of cost by the government under the Chief Ministers Special Grant,” it added.
The provision kit will consist of dry rations, toiletries and other daily essentials needed for a two-week period for the entire family. To the extent possible, fresh produce like milk and vegetables will also be part of the Kits.
The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have been asked constitute a special team for home delivery of provision kits.
Data of all registered inbound individuals is available for download on the weblink- www.meghalayaonline.gov.in /covid Login credentials for the same are available with the DIOs.
Based on this data, the process of delivery of Kits will have to be planned to ensure that the delivery happens at the beginning of the quarantine period, preferably within the first three days.
The DCs will coordinate with the headmen of the localities to ensure that the deliveries are done on time.
“All protective protocols, including usage of masks, gloves and hand sanitizers will have to be followed by the delivery team in accordance with the instructions of the Health and Family Welfare Department,” the statement said.
On the issue of funds, it said that funds for procurement of all materials to be provided in the Kits and to cover the costs of the delivery logistics will be transferred to the bank accounts of the Deputy Commissioners from the Chief Minister’s Special Grant.
The details of the individuals who have been provided the kits along with address and telephone number will have to be provided to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on a daily basis.
