COVID-19: Meghalaya records highest single-day recovery, 42 fresh cases
The state on Tuesday has recorded the highest single-day recovery of 156 COVID-19 patients while only 42 fresh cases were detected.
“Another 156 patients have recovered from COVID-19 – 73 from East Garo Hills, 53 from East Khasi Hills, 26 from West Garo Hills, 3 from Ri Bhoi and 1 from West Jaintia Hills,” Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek told reporters.
He said with this, the number of cured people in the state has gone up to 1,716.
The minister also informed that the 42 new cases – 25 in East Khasi Hills, 13 in West Garo Hills, 3 in South West Garo Hills and 1 in Ri Bhoi – have been detected on Tuesday, taking the total active cases in the state to 1,343.
He said the break up of new cases include 2 health workers from Bethany hospital, 11 high risk cases, 7 influenza like illness (ILI) cases and 5 armed forces and paramilitary forces in East Khasi Hills, 7 Rongrang bazar random sampling, 3 high risk cases, 2 AF/PF and 1 returnee in West Garo Hills, 2 truck drivers and 1 high risk case in South West Garo Hills and 1 AF/PF in Ri Bhoi.
The state so far has recorded a total of 3.076 positive COVID-19 cases of which 17 have died due to the viral infection.
East Khasi Hills is with highest number of active cases at 920, followed by West Garo Hills with 173 cases, 117 in Ri Bhoi, 30 each in West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills, 25 in East Garo Hills, 16 in South Garo Hills, 13 in North Garo Hills and 1 in South West Khasi Hills.
Till date, a total of 102487 samples have been tested of which 98,345 were negative and test results of 1,066 are awaited. There are 33,880 entrants from outside the state.
