COVID-19: Night Curfew imposed in West Garo Hills of Meghalaya
West Garo Hills District Magistrate, Ram Singh on Wednesday has imposed night curfew in the district. The timing of the night curfew will start from 8 pm to 5 pm daily.
Issuing the order, the District Magistrate said the decision was to break the transmission chain and to put in place preventive measures so that the pandemic of COVID-19 does not spread to the entire District and to contain the spread of viruses to other parts of Garo Hills.
The district magistrate has also enforce the following measures:
Working hours of all Government Offices from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The Opening of other non-essential shops from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday: No customers are allowed to enter inside the shops. Shops owners are directed to maintain barrier outside the shops and wear mask and use sanitizers.
The Executive Magistrates/Special Executive Magistrates along with Police Officers to be designated by the Superintendent of Police/Sub-Divisional Police Officer and members of Market Committees are directed to monitor the situation and ensure that all people strictly follow the COVID Protocols to contain the further spread of the virus. In case of any violation of the instructions, shops will be closed immediately.
However, other restriction and permitted activities notified earlier will remain the same until further orders, but Saturday & Sunday will be Lockdown with exemption for Essential goods transport and emergency.
Wearing of face Mask Covering of mouth and nose when moving around is mandatory and spitting & smoking in the public place including shops and work places is prohibited.
Penalty will be imposed to violators by the designated Officers, who have been empowered under Section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 as notified earlier.
