COVID-19: People entering WJH along the Assam Meghalaya border should register
In view of the COVID-19 second wave, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District Garod LSN Dykes directed all persons entering the district from Assam Meghalaya Border should register themselves in Meghalaya COVID-19 portal.
In his prohibitory order issued on Monday, Garod LSN Dykes said that persons/ returnees entering the state through Saphai, Tiehwieh (Sahsniang), Mukroh and Khanduli should register themselves. He also said any person/ returnee found entering their village without completing the test or without informing the concerned Headman Authorities in advance will be viewed seriously and necessary action will be taken against the person as per law.
The order was issued to put in place preventive measures and awareness, to identify and take more stringent steps to ensure social distancing so the pandemic of COVID-19 is contained, reduced and eliminated in the district.
It will be mandatory for all returnees from outside the State, Meghalaya on return to the District to registered themselves via online at http://meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid/login.htm
The order also prohibits all forms of large public gathering and congregation including social, political, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions etc. Any assembly whatsoever and while enforcing this, every individual to mandatorily maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet, to wear face masks, respiratory etiquette and to strictly follow the various protocols and advisories of the Government in the Health & Family Welfare Department at all times with effect
The order also prohibits moving in public, work places, shops and during transport without a Mask (any violation shall be imposed fine up to Rs. 1000.00/-), spitting and consumption of liquor, pan, gutka, tobacco etc in public places.
Individuals must maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet/ 2 metres in public places. All shops, restaurants and bars in the District are to close by 9.00 PM.
All residents of the District are directed to maintenance COVID Appropriate Behaviour.
All Hotels to insist for COVID Negative Certificate for those tourists arriving from outside the State.
Seating to the permitted capacity only to be ensured in public transportation vehicles and mandatory wearing of face mask.
Maximum number of persons allowed during any Religious/ Social private gathering is brought down to 50 persons or one -third the capacity whichever less is for indoors and 100 persons or one- third the capacity, whichever is less for outdoors. The concerned parties are also directed to obtain prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner/ Sub- Divisional Officer (Civil) Amlarem and to ensure that the SOPs for social distancing are in place strictly followed.
For outdoors sports spectators permitted upto 100 persons or one-third the capacity whichever is less.
Cinema halls to operate at one- third the seating capacity. Place of worship are allowed to function at 50% of the seating capacity and are to adhere to the COVID-19 protocol.
Number of attendees at Funeral / last rite related gathering shall not exceed 50 person or one-third of the capacity whichever is less and mandatory wearing face mask. Bereaved family are requested to maintain a register showing name, address and mobile number of the visitors.
Illegal hawkers, vendors are not allowed in the public footpath and road side which obstruct movement of people in Jowai town.
The District Magistrate has instructed the citizens to follow all Health protocols and adhere to the SOPs to ensure that the State does not see a resurgence in cases.
