COVID-19: Shillong school to introduce online learning for students
The Meghalaya Police Public School (MPPS) has decided to start an online learning for classes KG to X to ensure that students do not miss out on their studies in view of the lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The school is offering both video tutorials and assignments which will be made available on a platform created by the IT team of CR Projects Shillong using their own backend servers.
It may be mentioned here all educational institutions in the state have been shutdown since
Elaborating on this novel idea, the first of its kind initiative in the state, CEO of CR Projects, Christopher Rani said the idea behind the exercise is to ensure that students do not waste valuable time during the lockdown period which till date is uncertain when it would end.
There will be video tutorials for both parents and students to understand how the system works and then teachers will upload lessons through video etc. for students to study and submit assignments on the same for evaluation by their respective teachers.
There will also be scope for students to interact virtually with their teachers for clarifications on any doubts.
“All one needs are an internet connection, a PC, laptop, tablet or a smart phone to avail of this service which we are not charging a single penny as our humble contribution at this hour of need,” Christopher said.
Any problems relating to the registration, parents/students may kindly send a WatsApp message to +1 315 3258070 or log on into http://www.crschool.online
Talks with other schools for a similar experience are underway, he added.
Expressing hope that this would be of great help to the students, MPPS Principal I Warjri said she and her teachers are excited to interact with their students after a long gap albeit through the virtual world.
“I urge both parents and students to kindly download the link sent to you via SMS in your registered mobile number and register your child so as to ensure the child does not miss the lessons,” Warjri said adding, “We need to double our efforts to ensure that our students study pace is not affected too much due to this challenge.”
“If there has been any change in your contact numbers, please contact 9615922732 and update your new number so as to ensure your child does not miss out. I greatly encourage the keen participation of the students and guidance of parents too,” she requested.
