COVID-19: Six houses in Jowai declared micro containment zone

The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday sealed six house and compound in two locality in Jowai and declared micro containment zone after COVID-19 positive cases.

The order prohibited unregulated entry exit in the affected areas until further orders.

The new micro containment are namely:

House and compound owned by Wiwo Siangbood, Rihun Kharuki, Daimon Challam of Tpep Pale, Jowai.

House and Compound of Bunki Lanong, Soilin Lanong, Poibiang Lanong of  Chilliang Raij, Jowai.

The order was issued by District Magistrate on recommendation made by District Medical & Health Officer, West Jaintia Hills after the detection of positive COVID-19 cases.  “Due to recent and the affected areas requires aggressive contact tracing, quarantine testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of general public against any possible spread of COVID-19,” the order said.

West Jaintia Hills has 40 COVID-19 active cases.
