COVID-19 Vaccine launched in East Jaintia Hills
The Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat Shri. E. Kharmalki, today launched the Covid-19 Vaccine at Sutnga Community Health Centre (CHC), East Jaintia Hills District. The launching programme was organized by the Office of the District Medical Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District. Dr. Jatin Thakkar, CVHO, WHO for East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. T. Shylla, Block Development Officer, Khliehriat C&RD Block and Dr. R. Pyrtuh, Block Development Officer, Saipung C&RD Block were among other who also attended the programme.
While addressing on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Shri. E. Kharmalki, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District said that everybody will be getting the Covid-19 vaccine and as per the guidelines of the Government of India, the Health Care Workers will be the first to be vaccinated. He also appealed to all the health workers present at the gathering to overcome their fear and to administer for the COVID-19 vaccine so as to protect themselves and there family from the virus.
The Deputy Commissioner further stressed on the need to keep following the basic preventive measures by every individual such as physical distancing, wearing of mask, hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene and most importantly to maintain cleanliness in their homes and public places in order to reduce the risk of infection with Covid-19. He also congratulated the Medical Officers, Health Care Workers and staff of Sutnga CHC on being the first beneficiary of the District to come forward to get the COVID-19 vaccination and setting a good example for others to follow.
Earlier in the programme, Dr, (Mrs) E.L Kharmutee. DIO I/C, East Jaintia Hills District while giving a speech on COVID -19 Vaccine stated that the COVID-19 vaccine will be offered first to healthcare workers, frontline workers and population above 50 years of age, followed by population below 50 years of age with associated co-morbidities, based on the evolving pandemic situation and finally to the remaining population based on the disease epidemiology and vaccine availability.
She further informed that COVID- 19 Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-win) system is a digital platform which will be use to track the enlisted beneficiaries for vaccination and COVID-19 vaccines on a real time basis. Speaking on the vaccination process she said that based on the numbers of registered beneficiaries and priority accorded, the vaccination session will be planned.
It may also be mentioned that on this first day of the COVID-19 Vaccination Drive, Medical Officer, Health Care Workers and Staff of Sutnga CHC took the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Other who also spoke during the Programme includes Dr. D Shylla, District Medical & Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District who delivered the welcome address and Dr (Mrs) R. Toi, MO I/C, Sutnga CHC, East Jaintia Hills District who offered the vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by the Staff of Sutnga Community Health Centre (CHC).
