Credit outreach programme in Itanagar, Namsai: Sitharaman distributes sanction letters worth over Rs 14 cr
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman handed over sanction letter to 160 accounts totaling to Rs. 14.41 crores at a credit outreach programme in Itanagar on Tuesday.
The schemes includes Atmanirbhar Bharat, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY), MUDRA, Stand-up India, PMSVANidhi, PMVishwakarma, Swayam Sidha and SHG.
Under NABARD interventions, assistance of Rs 49.85 lakh to Arunachal Pradesh Innovation and Investment Park (APIIP) for supporting rural start-ups was provided. Sanction of Rs. 1.50 crore to Rajiv Gandhi (Central) University to set up a RBIC was also made. A sanction of 1786 lakh by NABARD under various initiatives for supporting financial inclusion and literacy was also made. Small Industries Development Bank of India’s grant of Rs. 40 lakh was also sanctioned for promotion of micro enterprises.
The programme was also attended by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and several other dignitaries, including Union Secretary of Department of Financial Services (DFS), Additional Secretary, senior DFS officials, the Chairman of SBI, the Chairman of NABARD, the CMD of SIDBI, and senior officers from the state government.
The Union Minister also handed over one ambulance van, one hearse van and 50 bicycles to girl students under the CSR activity of SBI. Additionally, two demonstration vans from NABARD and one mobile medical van from Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) were also flagged off during the event.
Earlier, Sitharaman attended another credit outreach program in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh which was graced by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and key officials from the Department of Financial Services (DFS), including the Secretary, Additional Secretary, as well as senior representatives from the State Bank of India (SBI), NABARD, SIDBI, and the state government.
The Finance Minister inaugurated the SBI Regional Business Office (RBO) in Namsai and virtually launched six additional SBI branches in the region. In a symbolic initiative for environmental conservation, Smt. Sitharaman participated in a tree plantation activity at the RBO Namsai under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
As part of her engagement with the community, the Union Minister interacted with local women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and flagged off a school bus and 100 bicycles to girl students under the CSR activity of SBI.
In the programme, sanction letters under various schemes such as Atmanirbhar Bharat, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY), Stand-up India, PMSVANidhi, PMVishwakarma, Swayam Sidha and SHG were given to 195 accounts totalling to Rs. 6.81 crores.
Under NABARD interventions, a sanction of Rs. 8.80 lakh to GI-registered proprietors for GI-tagged products was released. Further an amount of Rs. 32.37 lakh was released to the College of Agriculture of Central Agriculture University for empowering youth and women through a pilot demonstration of agriculture 4.0 technologies for suitable farming and farmer welfare. Bethel Life Care charitable trust was sanctioned Rs. 30.67 lakh for the DPR project for integrated floriculture and bee-keeping.
In addition, an amount of Rs. 6.5 lakh was sanctioned to Namsai Organic Spices and Agriculture Products Company Limited (NOSAAP) for rural mart and Rs. 6 lakh was sanctioned to the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) for micro-enterprise development programs in the vibrant villages of Arunachal Pradesh.
In line with the government of India’s efforts for Financial Inclusion, as part of NABARD projects, Rs. 5.7 lakh were sanctioned to Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank for deployment of micro-ATMS and mobile signal boosters and 4 micro-ATMs of Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperated (Apex Bank) were distributed to large area multipurpose society (LAMPS). In addition to the above as part of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) interventions, Rs. 1.5 lakh were sanctioned for women’s livelihood program. This credit outreach program assumes special significance for being held in Namsai which is the only aspirational district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Earlier, Sitharaman called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar and discussed financial assistance to the state.
The Governor, while sharing his observations during his district tours and remote administrative circles, requested the Union Minister for special one-time financial assistance for the replacement of about 5,500 dilapidated administrative buildings built during the 1960s and 1970s.
The Governor said that as there is no loan provision from international banks and the state depends on the Union government for financial assistance and therefore, the State of Arunachal Pradesh needs to be helped with additional funds. He also shared the financial challenges of the State and requested for funds under Special Assistance for environmental, hydropower and border area development projects.
The Governor, who interacted with ‘Lakhpati Didis’ at Boleng and Aalo during his district tour, suggested one-stop centres for financial and non-financial services. He also proposed the wholehearted participation of banks in the state government’s outreach welfare programme, Seva Aaapke Dwar to further financial inclusion, ensuring every adult member of a family in Arunachal Pradesh, has a bank account, access to Central schemes such as Atal Pension Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana as well as State schemes such as Atmanirbhar Arunachal, Dulari Kanya Yojana.
The Union Minister assured the Governor to provide necessary financial assistance to Arunachal Pradesh.
