Croatian cultural troupe’s enthralling performance in Jowai cultural exchange event
The Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), Zonal Office North East in collaboration with the Panaliar Women’s Welfare Organization organised a cultural exchange program at Yungwalieh Panaliar in Jowai on Tuesday.
The event featured a performance by the Knight’s Association Kumpanjiji – Balto, a cultural troupe from Croatia.
The event was attended by Munish Singh, Zonal Director of ICCR, Nicola, the Group Leader of Knight’s Association Kumpanjiji – Balto, Waheh Chnong Panaliar Riquoma Rq. Laloo, who warmly welcomed the troupe and OR Shallam executive member Panaliar who delivered a short speech. The function was chaired by Biangtre Bamon, the Chairperson of the Panaliar Women’s Welfare Organisation.
During his address, Munish Singh emphasized the importance of preserving and exchanging cultures. He noted that the visit of the Croatian cultural troupe had further strengthened cultural ties between the two nations. He encouraged everyone to take pride in their traditional culture, highlighting that the friends from Croatia had the opportunity to witness the rich Jaintia Culture, while the Croatian group showcased their own cultural heritage.
Nicola, speaking at the gathering, expressed his happiness to be a part of this cultural exchange program. He mentioned that after traveling from Delhi to Shillong, they felt at home. He also informed the audience that the troupe had performed a traditional army act, showcasing the bravery of their ancestors who defended their island in history.
The event successfully fostered understanding and appreciation between the cultures of India and Croatia.
