CSWO demands CBI probe into illegal business
SHILLONG: The Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) has sought for a CBI probe into the alleged business syndicate between the cardiology department of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) and Sanjo pharmacy.
In an FIR submitted to the CBI, Shillong on Thursday, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said, “…this is serious and has to be investigated so that the truth comes out as this is dangerous for the public at large and exploited by some to become rich.”
The serious allegations have been made by the director of NEIGRIHMS Dr DM Thapa following the alleged arbitrary decision of the Governing Council to remove him from the institute.
Kharshiing said that the CSWO was also informed that the CVO of NEIGRIHMS has seized many Cardio materials on April 30, in the premises of the institute, and the materials were claimed by the proprietor of Sanjo Pharmacy, who is the wife of a Technician of NEIGRIHMS and he could be conduit to bring in the Cardio materials to Neigrihms, without the procedure to procure the equipments by the Cardiology Department Head.
“…the Director informed that he had proposed for a vigilance report and this is being serious, and we urge that a thorough investigation be carried out to reveal the nexus between the Cardiology Department Head and the proprietor of Sanju Pharmacy and others who try to protect them and we also demand that a case for Disproportionate Assets against the person/ persons involved may be carried out,” she said in the FIR.
