Lockdown: Curfew extends till 24 April midnight in West Jaintia Hills
In view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19 in the country and globally, to put in place preventive measures and awareness, to identify and take more stringent steps to ensure social distancing so the pandemic of COVID-19 does not spread to West Jaintia Hills District and Meghalaya, by way of ensuring observance of strict protocols of the Advisories issued by Government of Meghalaya in the Health & Family Welfare Department, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai in an order issued on 19th April, 2020 has under section 144 Cr.P.C read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases COVID-19 Regulations 2020 has promulgate Curfew from midnight of 19th April 2020 up to midnight of 24th April, 2020.
The District Magistrate has also imposed restriction on Assembly or gathering of 5 (five) or more persons in public area and premises beyond the individual households, operation of public and private transport, operation of all market and commercial establishments, movement in public places without Masks , spiting in public places in West Jaintia Hills District.
The prohibitory order will not be applicable to:
Security Forces
Medical Teams on duty,
Wholesale & Retail Pharmacies,
Police and Armed Forces, Fire & Emergency Service,
MeECL and Power Grid, Food & Civil Supplies Department,
Jowai Municipal Board,
Telecom, Communications & IT Services and C.S.C, Print and Electronic Media, Government Official on Duty, Banks & Treasuries.
PHE, AH&Vety, Agriculture & Horticulture, C&RD
Movement of Vehicles carrying Essential Commodities, LPG Cylinders, Security Forces, Medical Equipment along the National Highway. However, Drivers and Attendants of the Vehicles shall be subjected to medical screening as per laid down protocol.
The District Magistrate has also informed that the Order will not affect the arrangement made tor Fair price Shops/identified Local Retailers/
Groceries Shops which shall open on Wednesday and Saturday of the week from 9 AM to 4 PM and identified Wholesalers on Tuesday and Friday of the week from 9 AM to 4 PM.
The District Magistrate further informed that all curfew passes issued before 16h April, 2020 are suspended for the Lockdown period from midnight of 19th April, 2020 to midnight of 24th April, 2020.
