Curfew reimposed in West Jaiñtia Hills
To put in place preventive measures and take more stringent steps to ensure social distancing and home quarantine so that the Pandemic COVID-19 does not spread to West Jaintia Hills District and Meghalaya, the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills has under section 144CrPC promulgated curfew in the whole of the District from 6 Am of 3rd April, 2020 to 6 Am of 6th April, 2020.
The DM has also imposed restriction on assembly or gathering of five or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual households, operation of all forms of private and public transport and operation of all market and commercial establishments in West Jaintia Hills.
The order will however not affect the opening of of Fair Price shops and identified local retailer shops including groceries and essential shops, vegetables, fruit, meat and confectionery shops.
The local Headman in coordination with the District Police will regulate the operation of shops in their respective locality and to also ensure due compliance to the advisory of the Government in the Health and family welfare Department with special and strict reference to Social Distancing concerning the COVID-19 situation.
The public are to strictly maintain social distancing of at least 1metre and to comply with the management made by the District Administration, District Police and the Headman.
Areas to be affected all within the jurisdiction of Thadlaskein C&RD Block, Amlarem C&RD and Laskein C&RD.
This Order is however not applicable to Security force, medical teams on duty, Wholesale & Retail Pharmacies, Police and Armed forces, Fire &Emergency Services, MeECL and Power Grid, Food & Civil Supplies Department, FCI, Public Works Department (PWD), Public health Engineering (PHE), Meghalaya Directorate of Dairy Development, Jowai Municipal Board. Telecom, Telegraph, Communications & IT Services, Print & Electronic Media, Bank & Treasuries, Movement of fodder and animal products with PASSES to be issued by the District AH &&Vety Officer, Petrol Pumps, Essential Services including Health Services, LPG Deliveries, online food delivery, online services delivery, Courier services.
Vehicles carrying essential commodities, security forces, medical equipment & good vehicles with valid passes are also exempted. However, Drivers and attendants of the vehicles shall be subjected to medical screening as per laid down protocols.
This order will not affect the opening of Fair Price Shops and identified local retailers which is scheduled to be open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 Noon and identified
Wholesalers on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday respectively. ADIPR
