Cyclone Remal: Meghalaya shuts down schools and colleges on May 28
The Meghalaya government has ordered the closure of schools and colleges on May 28 in view of the cyclone Remal.
District administrations across the state have issued these closure orders.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of extremely heavy rainfall and strong winds in the East Khasi Hills District from May 27 to 28. To ensure safety, East Khasi Hills District Magistrate SC Sadhu announced that all schools and colleges in the district will remain closed on May 28.
Similar closure orders have been issued by deputy commissioners in West Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi, East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Garo Hills, and South West Garo Hills.
