In view of the regular problems faced by the District Administration regarding removing of hawkers from occupying every nook and corner in Jowai town including public foot path, which has caused major inconvenience to the general public and pedestrians and disrupt the free flow of traffic as pedestrians are deprived from using the foot path due to the illegal encroachment by hawkers and pedestrian tends to use the main road for walking which in turn has led to frequent accidents due to heavy congestion, it has also been observed that Covid-19 protocols are not being followed by the citizens.

Therefore, the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai has issued an order directing all illegal hawkers/ trouble mongers to vacate the public foot path and main roads from 27/04/2021. ADIPR
