DC, EKH launches ‘operation zero litter’ at Khyndailad
SHILLONG: Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Matsiewdor War Nongbri today launched the “Operation Zero Litter”, a joint collaboration of Shillong Municipal Board and Home Guards & Civil Defence, here at Khyndailad, Shillong.
The objective of the operation is to achieve a zero-litter Khyndailad within 30 days from the start of the operation.
Addressing the launching programme, Deputy Commissioner said that the initiative needs to be taken in the right earnest to keep Khyndailad area litter free. She said that there is a need for a collective effort of all the stakeholders and public at large in this endeavour and called upon each and everyone to be a part of the campaign. We need to put a little bit of effort and help each other out to make this programme a success, she said.
CEO, Shillong Municipal Board, Shri B. S. Sohliya hoped that the programme will have tangible and concrete results in the days to come. He also said that depending on the success in this programme, the programme will later be spread out to other spots in the city.
Officials from the Home Guards & Civil Defence, Shillong Municipal Board and Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides were present at the programme.
