DC Khliehriat confused between spelling “betel”nut and “beetle” instead
Strange but true, the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District is confused between the spelling of betel nuts and beetle as per his order he spelt the word as “beetle” not “betel.”
Beetles are a group of insects that form the order Coleoptera, in the superorder Endopterygota. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects
According to the order, the Deputy Commissioner said that it has been reported that there a brisk business of beetle nuts in the interstate border (Malidor) on a daily basis even on unauthorized day (Saturday) without proper authority from the undersigned.
“Such unauthorized open market where people from Assam and Meghalaya are doing business transactions both cash and kind is a threat of spreading the corona virus in the District without following the advisories and instructions of the Government,” the order said.
The Deputy Commissioner ordered that this kind of market shall cease to operate with immediate effect. Anyone found violating the order shall be book in accordance with the law.
They are instructed not to allow farmers to sell towards Assam side but allow towards Meghalaya, the order added.
