DC Khliehriat prohibits strikes in any Essential Services

The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District has prohibited strikes in any essential services in order to prevent any disruption and breakdown of emergency services to the public.

The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner East Jaintia Hills in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Meghalaya Essential Services Maintenance Act,1980 (No.23 of 1980) read with the Meghalaya Essential Services Maintenance (Amendment) Act 2003 and in pursuance to Government Notification and in the public interest to help contain the possibility of outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 into the state,

This order come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force for a period of six months.
