DC warns hoarding of essential commodities in East Khasi Hills
Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, ordered the open market traders dealing in essential commodities to refrain from hoarding of stock which will lead to panic buying and artificial shortage. The consumers are urged not to resort to panic buying because the market’s stock is ample and closely monitored.
According to a press release, the Deputy Commissioner is monitoring the situation on a daily basis to ensure that no hoarding or black marketing occurs, as wholesale and retail food prices have been re-fixed due to increases in the prices of basic commodities.
Stern actions will be taken against defaulters if found hoarding stocks or exceeding price rates set by the Office of Deputy Commissioner, stated in a press release.
