Debris cleared traffic restored on Sonapur tunnel

The National Highway 06 was opened for traffic after the debris from the flash flood has been cleared on Sonapur Tunnel in East Jaintia Hills District on Monday evening.

East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner,  Abhilash Baranwal informed that the Sonapur Tunnel has been opened for two-way traffic. The debris has been cleared. The traffic is flowing smoothly across NH 06 barring few places where the road has been damaged and hence only one-lane traffic is being allowed.

He urged all to avoid all unnecessary travels across this route for now so that the essential commodities vehicles heading to Barak Valley and adjoining states can be expedited.
