Deficit school teachers to stage protest on Sept 5
SHILLONG: Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) has alleged the education minister Lahkmen Rymbui of beating about the bush instead of resolving the problems of the deficit teachers instead.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, KJDSTA president Kular Khongjirem said the statement of the education minister on the problems of the teachers is not acceptable.
“He (Rymbui) is trying to beat around the bush on the issues as he is not confident as minister concerned to settle the problems of the deficit teachers once and for all,” he said.
Rymbui had maintained that the state government would require over Rs 5,000 crore to address the various grievances of the teachers and other problems in the education department.
The KJDSTA and Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees Association (GHDSTEA) have decided to go ahead with their decision to stage a statewide black flag day on the occasion of Teachers’ Day celebrations to be held across the state.
Khongjirem said the teachers are requested to attend all government functions by wearing black flags as a mark of protest against its failure to fully implement the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission, which include the release of 25 percent arear (second installment) of the revised pay.
