Meghalaya Election: DEO directed political parties to display permission letters prominently in poster/hoarding/banner etc

East Khasi Hills District Election Officer (DEO) on Saturday said that it has come to the notice of the office of the District Election Officer that several posters /hoardings/banners etc. have been put up across the East Khasi Hills District by political parties and their candidates in the run up to the upcoming elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on 27th February, 2023.

The District Election Officer directed political parties to:

• Take the requisite permission from the Returning Officer of the Assembly Constituency for any such displays as informed in earlier communication.

• Ensure that the permission letter is displayed prominently in the poster/hoarding/banner etc.

• Ensure that the contact number of a person from the political party is also displayed so that in case of any doubts/ clarification the officers concerned can be facilitated in the carrying of their duty.

He also requested all political parties to comply with these directions with immediate effect.
