Deputy Chairman declared he was confused and prorogued the House in one minute
JOWAI: Deputy Chairman of Jaintia Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Ailad Bhoi today set the perhaps the record of world shortest session by proroguing the session within one minute of its commencement as he was confused what to do next.
Bhoi was asked by the High Court of Meghalaya to preside over the winter session of the JHADC following the MC (WPC) no. 258 of 2019 filed by Jowai Central MDC Andrew Shullai as the Court is yet to deliver judgment in WPC no. 383 of 2019 filed by Shullai against State of Meghalaya opposing the election of Chairman of JHADC on ground that it was not in accordance with the Assam & Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules.
The Court order ruled that it will not disturb the session but restrained JHADC chairman F Bareh from presiding over the session and thus order Deputy Chairman to preside over the session.
But Bhoi after taking his seat at 11.11 am in the floor of the house informed that he received the court order this morning asking him to chair the session however the session was convened by the Chairman.
“I am confused what to do and thus I prorogued the House and left the House,” he said.
