Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong launched two new books, “Khasi Ethics” and “Ha Yupiam Ka Bei,” at the event of Monolith Festival 2024 on March 7th, 2024.
“Khasi Ethics,” penned by Fr. Barnes Mawrie SDB, is a profound exploration of the cultural ethos of the Khasi people. This literary gem delves into the ancient ethical principles that have long governed Khasi society, offering insights into personal and social morality that remain as relevant today as ever. Despite the evolving landscape of Khasi life over recent decades, the ethical fabric explored in this book continues to serve as a guiding light for individuals and communities alike.
Offering a poignant tribute to Khasi heritage, “Ha Yupiam Ka Bei” (On Mother’s Lap) Ki Jingrwai Kynoi Thiah (Lullabies), curated by Amabel Susngi, presents a delightful anthology of 25 timeless Khasi lullabies. Drawing from dialects across the Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, and Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya.
This book is an output of the Tata Samvaad Fellowship and published by Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) Press.
