Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar on Saturday emphasized the importance drivers to politicians, government officials and others.
Addressing the golden jubilee celebration cum felicitation programme organized by the Meghalaya Govt. Driver’s Welfare Association (MGDWA) at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Dhar said, “A driver is one of the pillars for the politicians, officers or businessmen as without you we are nowhere.”
“We don’t take you as drivers but as masters because
if you drive wrong way, we are gone,” he said.
Asserting the need for good drivers, the deputy chief minister said, “The best driver is not the one who drive on the highway, the best driver is one who drives on the rough roads. When you are expert to drive on rough roads then highway is nothing for you.”
Dhar also said that he was the second in the state of Meghalaya to drive a car at just 9 years old. He informed that over 398 drivers are working for his company.
He also appreciated the drivers for having patience and for sacrificing they are making while doing their jobs.
