District admin declares containment of 2 localities in Jongksha

East Khasi Hills district administration has declared two localities of Jongksha village as containment zones after a COVID-19 positive person was found mingling around and has come in contact with a large number of people.

A report received from the Block Development Officer, Mawkynrew C&RD Block and the Medical Officer in charge of Jongksha PHC informed that a COVID-19 positive person was found mingling around Wahshnong Hamlet and Nongshiliang Hamlet of Jongksha village and has come in contact with a large number of people, without taking any precaution even after being advised to isolate as per the protocols of the government.

In order to facilitate contact tracing, isolation and testing of the high risk contacts, the District Magistrate has declared the two localities as a containment zone until the exercise is completed so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.

The order states that no person are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the area shall not move out, all the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their home and all shops, establishments shall remain closed during containment.The Block Development Officer, Mawkynrew C&D Block shall supervise and monitor strict compliance of the order.
