District Legal Service Authority monitoring implementation of welfare schemes

As part of the Legal Services Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in collaboration with the District Administration, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, and the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat organised a Legal Awareness programme cum Health Camp on the theme “Empowerment of Citizens Through Legal Awareness and Outreach” on Wednesday.

The programme was held at Madan Mooknor, Narwan Village in East Jaintia Hills District.

District and Sessions Judge cum Chairperson District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, C. Dkhar informed two programmes in the district are being carried out simultaneously that is Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach and Haq Hamara Bhi To Hai.

She also said that the DLSA also monitors the welfare schemes implemented by various Government departments and to also ensure the benefits of the government welfare schemes reach the beneficiaries.

Block Development Officer (BDO), Saipung C&RD Block, Dr. R. Pyrtuh informed on the various schemes implemented by the Block Development Office and urged the people of Saipung C&RD Block to visit the Block Development Office to get more information about the Schemes.

He also encouraged the beneficiaries to register for e-SHRAM and to enroll for Aadhaar card.

B. Jyrwa, MPS, Addl. Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat gave a short speech on the NDPS Act, while T. Kyndiah gave an awareness on Early marriage and Child Rights, and A. M. Nongtdu, Panel Lawyer, and Smt. D. Lyngdoh, Para legal personnel spoke on Legal Aspect, Domestic Violence & POCSO Act, One Stop Centre and its functions, and P. Dkhar gave a speech on the topic of Persons with Disabilities & Senior Citizens.

Other participating Government departments were District Agriculture Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, District Labour Office, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat.

During the programme, Dkhar handed over Work Orders to three beneficiaries under PMAY-G Scheme and Ms. N.M. Momin, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat handed over the MGNREGA Work Order to Sahkai Village.

The camp also provided various public services such as enrollment of Aadhaar card, e- SHRAM registration. 192 people benefited from Free Medical Checkup which was conducted by the District & Health Office, East Jaintia  Hills District.
