District Level Science, Mathematics & Environment Exhibition held
JOWAI: One day District level Science, Mathematics and Environment exhibition organized by the office of the District School Education, West Jaintia Hills, was held today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jowai on the theme- “Scientific Solutions for challenges in life” with six (6) sub – themes -Resource Management, Waste Management, Mathematic Modelling, Transport and communication, Health and cleanliness. 11 schools participated in the exhibition.
The Model presented by Arman Suchiang from KJP Synod Mihngi Higher Secondary School, Jowai on ‘A Pheromone Trap on fruit Insects’ under the sub theme Agriculture and organic farming and model presented by Anisha Padu from Nongtalang Government Secondary School, Nongtalang title ‘Project for Slides and film strips’ under sub-theme ‘Transport and Communication’ have been declared as best exhibits and will represent the District at the State level Science Exhibition to be held on the 9th & 10 May, 2019.
Extempore speech was also conducted and the first prize was awarded to Arman Suchaing from KJP Synod Mihngi Higher Secondary School, Jowai, Phrangki Reagen Roy Saio from Marian Hill Higher Secondary School second prize and Dakashwa Langstang from Thadlaboh Presbyterian Higher Secondary School third prize.
The office of the Sub- Divisional School Education Officer has also felicitated and awarded certification of recognition to 11 students from different schools of Jowai who have cleared the State Talent search examination (STSTE) for tribal students in Mathematics and Science conducted by Directorate of Educational Research and training Meghalaya, Shillong on 1st December, 2018.
