District level transgender protection cell set up in West Khasi Hills

In a significant step towards ensuring the rights of transgender individuals, the District Level Protection Cell of Transgender has been set up in West Khasi Hills District.

This initiative is led by Garod LSN Dykes, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Legal Protection Cell of Transgender.

In line with the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020, individuals seeking a Transgender Certificate under the SMILE scheme can now register online via the National Portal for Transgender.
