District Level Yuva Utsav in Jowai
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Jowai, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India today organised a one-day District Level Yuva Utsav – India @2047 at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jowai .
The main theme of this Yuva Utsav is “PANCH PRAN” and its pure objectives is to Develop India, to remove any trace of colonial mindset, to take pride in our own heritage and Legacy, to promote National Unity and solidarity, to bring a Sense of duty among the citizens.
MDC Jowai Central Andrew Shullai was the chief guest and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jowai MA Challam as the guest of honour.
Speaking at the inaugural function, MDC Andrew Shullai extended his best wishes to all participants and the organisers. He appreciated the organisers of NYK Jowai for the initiative taken providing a platform for the youths of the district to showcase their talent. He encourages the youths to take advantage of the opportunity and perform with full enthusiasm and dedication not only for today’s even but also in future.
Earlier, D Rapsang, Deputy Director, NYKS Shillong in his welcome address briefed about the objectives of the programme, informing that the main objective of the programme was to create an opportunity for youths to explore their talent and skill, he further informed that students from different schools of the District will participate in different activities like Young Artist -Painting, Young Writers-Poetry, Mobile Photography, Declamation Contest and Cultural Festival during this one day programme. He also mentioned that the winners at the district level will be participating at the state level to be held in Shillong and winners at State level will move on to participate at National level.
More than 211 youths both boys and girls from the three C&RD Blocks of the District participated.
In the valedictory Session Brightstar Chyrmang, MDC Jowai North was the chief guest and HH Mohrmen as the guest of honour.
Prize and Certificates were distributed to winning participants.
In the Declamation Contest Paiya Venessa Lyngdoh bagged the first prize, Bymonmisalda Lato Second prize and Riiung Langbang third prize. In Mobile Photography Ri-O Sari won the first prize, Mekerda Bareh and Marbudki Phawa second and third prize respectively.
In the cultural event Manchwa kam family bagged the first prize, second prize Catherine Sna and third prize Sengkur Suting Welfare organisation third prize.
Young writer contest –Poetry Rewa Phawa bagged the first prize, Jied Dkhar second prize and Teilang Phawa third place.
