District Magistrate East Jaintia Hills directed PHE to promptly repair any damaged pipeline along NH-6
In view of deteriorated conditions of the National Highway 6 along the East Jaintia Hills District resulting in frequent vehicles breakdown thereby leading to traffic jams in the District, District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District has promulgated Section 163 of the BNSS prohibiting overloading of vehicles in the district.
According to the prohibitory order issued on Monday, the District Magistrate directed that the transportation must be conducted in strict accordance with the authorized capacity of the vehicles.
Observing that the trucks and pickup vehicles are transporting stones and boulders exceeding the height of the vehicle body thereby posing serious dangers to life and property due to the poor condition of the road, the prohibitory order directed that stones and boulders being transported by any vehicle must not exceed the height of the vehicle body and also directed the transporters to ensure that no stones or boulders fall from the vehicle during transportation.
On report of discharging of waters by car wash establishments directly onto the national highway, the District Magistrate directed all Commercial and Residential establishments along the NH-6 like car wash etc to ensure that water does not flow onto the roads.
Viewing that pipeline construction and explosions are causing water accumulation beneath the road surface, the prohibitory order instructed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and other relevant departments to ensure that pipelines are regularly checked and promptly repaired in the event of any damage or explosion.
