DLSA celebrates International Women’s Day at Songsak

The East Garo Hills District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) celebrated the International Women’s Day with the women Self Help Groups at the office premises of the Block Development Officer, Songsak C&RD Block on 8 March.

Speaking on the occasion, the District and Sessions Judge, M Skhemlon, lauded the women Self Help Groups (SHGs) for bringing a socio-economic change in the society and the urged the women to report the violence against them to the One Stop Centre thereby enabling the DLSA to take up the issue and file the cases in the court of law.

The Songsak BDO, Diana G Sangma, while speaking about the roles of women in the society, lauded the women SHGs for their contribution to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by distributing face masks. She also urged the women to hold the key posts in the Village Employment Councils.

The Centre Manager, One Stop Centre, Williamnagar, Sancheama Sangma, deliberated on equality of women in the society.

On the day, awards also were given to the four best SHGs for their tireless works during the Covid-19 lockdown.
