DLSA’s book donation drive enriches Jowai prison library

A community-driven book donation campaign, organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), West Jaintia Hills, has provided a wide range of educational materials to inmates of the District Prison and Correctional Home, Jowai.
Launched in December 2024, the initiative aims to offer inmates opportunities for self-improvement and rehabilitation through books. The collection includes spiritual, fiction, self-help, and training materials, donated by local residents and students.
At a programme held on March 15, the DLSA Secretary expressed gratitude to the donors and highlighted the importance of education in the rehabilitation process. The books will enrich the prison’s library, helping inmates develop new skills and prepare for reintegration into society.
The DLSA continues to accept book donations through office drop-offs and pick-ups, urging the public to support the cause for a lasting impact on inmates’ lives.
