Do not disseminate information about HIV/AIDS without proper knowledge: MACS
Jaintia Eastern College Red Ribbon Club organised the Zonal Level (Zone B) – East and West Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with Meghalaya Aids Control Society (MACS) Shillong on the topic – HIV/AIDS and other sexual transmitted diseases, tuberculosis and voluntary blood donation and youths on Friday at Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat.
The event was organized with the objective to create awareness among the students and youths of East and West Jaintia Hills District on the issues.
Inaugurating the event, Abhilash Baranwal IAS, Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District advised the students and youth to act as a messenger to disseminate information about these deadly diseases to their friends and loved ones.
He told the students that this is the right age and right time to make the right choice in their career so that they come become successful person and contribute towards the development of the district and nation.
In the valedictory function L. Nongpiur, Assistant Director Youth, MACS, Shillong cautioned the students not to disseminate information about HIV/AIDS without proper knowledge of it.
The event was participated by 20 (Twenty) students from 10 (ten) Higher Secondary Schools of East and West Jaintia Hills District.
The Red Ribbon Club Quiz Zonal Level Competition 2022 was won by Tia Chaphrang Higher Secondary School, Sohkymphor and declared as a Champion of Zone B represented by –Mebelcy Suchiang and Merilin Mylliem who will represent the two districts at the state level competition.
The Second and Third position was won by Sohkha Govt. Higher Secondary School, Sohkha and Govt. Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Jowai.
