Don Bosco University opens Centre for Skill Development in Guwahati
Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its Centre for Skill Development on Thursday.
The event was graced by Group Captain Saikat Sarkar, Joint Director, Directorate General Resettlement, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence.
In his address, Group Captain Sarkar commended the university’s initiative and expressed keen interest in future collaborations for training in various domains.
Group Captain Sarkar highlighted the importance of such initiatives in supporting the resettlement and skill development of defence personnel.
He noted that the collaboration between the university and the Ministry of Defence is already bearing fruit, with 27 defence personnel currently undergoing training as Industrial Automation Specialists at ADBU.
Father Joseph Nellanatt, Pro Vice Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University, along with Professor Manoranjan Kalita, Director of the Assam Don Bosco University School of Technology, were also present at the ceremony, joined by faculties, staff, and students of ADBU.
Mriganka Gogoi, Coordinator of the Centre, expressed that the mission of the Centre for Skill Development is to empower individuals to become self-reliant, both financially and personally, while making a significant impact on the nation’s development, particularly in Northeast India.
He emphasized the Centre’s ambition to become a nationally impactful institution, driving progress in skill development and contributing to the broader goals of regional and national growth.
This program is conducted in partnership with the Instrumentation Automation Surveillance & Communication (IASC) Sector Skill Council, showcasing the university’s commitment to providing cutting-edge education and training.
Father Joseph Nellanatt emphasized the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation, particularly in the field of skill development.
He expressed optimism that the new centre would play a crucial role in empowering students and defence personnel alike with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
With the successful inauguration of the Centre, ADBU is set to embark on a journey that not only enhances individual capabilities but also contributes to the broader development of the nation, particularly the Northeast region.
