Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram reiterated Krem Mawjymbuin as a tourist spot not a place of worship
The Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram has reiterated that they will not tolerate any religious worship in Krem Mawjymbuin located within the jurisdiction of the village under East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya.
This was informed by Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram Assistant Headman RH Rapsang in a video recorded statement issued to syllad.com on the 5th of this month while reacting to a statement issued by Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) President Satya Ranjan Borah in syllad on February 27th this year.
In his statement, Borah informed that in August 2024 the Dorbar Shnong imposed a ban on worshipping the naturally formed Shivling in Krem Mawjymbuin since then the KSP had taken the issue with utmost sincerity and on 3rd January of this year the dispute came to an end in a meeting held in the office of the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills in presence of representatives of KSP’s and all other stakeholders from Meghalaya government and local Dorbar.
Rapsang said that even after the meeting held on January 3rd this year, the Dorbar Shnong remained firm in its decision to oppose any religious worship in Krem Mawjymbuin as it is and it will remain a tourist spot.
Apparently, Borah’s statement was issued with an hidden agenda and to mislead the general public, said Rapsang.
The Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram Assistant Headman said that the Dorbar was taken aback by the announcement made by Borah that the KSP will perform religious rites by pouring water brought from Uttar Pradesh on the stone in Krem Mawjymbuin on February 26th this year. He also said that the Dorbar convened an emergent meeting to chalk strategy to stall any religious rite in Krem Mawjymbuin.
He also said that on February 26th this year a large number of local residents turned up at Krem Mawjymbuin for ensuring no religious rites. He added that magistrate and police personnel were present in Krem Mawjymbuin to maintain law and order in the said areas.
Rapsang informed that Borah came on the said date and requested them to allow him to pour water on the stone or Shivling but the Dorbar Shnong remained firm and they did not permit him from performing any religious rite on Krem Mawjymbuin. He also said that the Dorbar Shnong permitted Borah to enter the interior area of Krem Mawjymbuin for offering silent prayer. He added that Borah remained in Krem Mawjymbuin for a minute and took photographs.
Rapsang said the Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram and its villagers did not gathered at Krem Mawjymbuin to welcome the KSP President while clarifying to the claim made by Borah that a large crowds gathered to welcome him in Krem Mawjymbuin.
Rapsang questioned “who is Borah that we had to gather and accord respect to him as claimed by him.”
The Dorbar Shnong Mawsynram Assistant Headman made it clear that the Dorbar welcomes any people to visit Krem Mawjymbuin as tourist but they will not allow any move to turn the place as a place of worship.
