Dr Khalukhi to emerge victorious in RS polls: Tynsong
NPP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday expressed confidence that the MDA candidate and party state president Dr WR Kharlukhi will emerge victorious in the election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat, slated to be held on June 19.
“We are fully ready (for the election). Now we are only waiting for the moment and I am 101 per cent that Dr Kharlukhi will emerge victorious,” Tynsong told reporters.
When asked that earlier the PDF leader Banteidor Lyngdoh had alleged there was no consensus in the selection of the MDA official candidate, the deputy CM however said, “Please reconfirm this from him. If he said it is not consensus please go and reconfirm it from him.”
Tynsong maintained that the decision on Dr Kharlukhi’s candidature was unanimous one.
“I was the chairman of that selection committee and all senior leaders from each party they were part of that committee and ultimately we came up with one decision and the decision was unanimous and that is Dr Kharlukhi is the MDA candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections to be held on June 19.”
On the opposition Congress trying to reach out to ruling MLAs, Tynsong said politics is always like that. “The opposition will always try to create confusion and spread rumours the same way like what these people now are spreading rumours about COVID cases…,” he added.
