Dr Kharlukhi elected as Meghalaya Rajya Sabha MP
NPP state president Dr WR Kharlukhi was elected as the new Rajya Sabha MP from Meghalaya.
Dr Kharlukhi defeated Congress nominee Kennedy Khyriem by a margin of 20 votes.
The MDA strength is 41 in the 60 member House.
Dr Kharlukhi however secured 39 votes after one vote was declared as invalid.
KHNAM legislator Adelbert Nongrum abstained from voting.
Meanwhile, Khyriem got only 19 votes
