Draft Electoral Roll released for Nartiang, Jowai, Raliang and Mowkaiaw constituencies
The Draft Electoral Roll for the four Assembly constituencies: 1 Nartiang, 2- Jowai, 3- Raliang and 4- Mowkaiaw was distributed on October 29 to the representatives of political parties in the conference room DC’s office, Jowai. Additional Deputy Commissioners HML Kynta, B.Blah and D V Lyngdoh, Assistant Commissioner F Passah were present.
Briefing the representative Smt. DV Lyngdoh explained that the draft electoral roll is to ensure that all eligible citizens who attain the age of 18 by the qualifying date 01.01.2024 are registered. She mentioned that from 29th October to 28th November, 2024 citizens can file claims or objections if needed during this period. She also informed that during this period special camps will be held on November 15, 16, 21 and 22nd November, 2024, where BLOs, AROs, EROs will visit the polling stations and meet the public. Awareness programmes will be conducted to inform the citizens about the electoral revision process and to make citizens understand their voting rights. Disposal of claims and objections by 24.12.2024. The Final publication of Electoral rolls will be on 06.01.2025.
Lyngdoh also informed that the total numbers of voter have increased, according to the draft electoral roll published today, the total number of electoral rolls registered in the four constituencies have increase to 168,853 from 166,728 in the previous published on 05.01.2024
She further mentioned that the number of polling stations in the 3 three constituencies Jowai, Raliang, Mowkaiaw remains the same 57, 55 and 55 respectively. In Nartiang Assembly Constituencies one polling station has been created that adds to 64 polling stations.
N Garod, District Housing Officer, Jowai, G.Rani, Assistant Director Border Area Development Officer, Jowai, Iaidbha Phawa, Assistant Research Officer, Jowai and Staff of Election Branch were also present.
In the programme held, the representatives from VPP, NPP, BJP and UDP were provided with copies of the draft electoral rolls. ADIPR
