Drugs worth 14 crores seized three arrested in Meghalaya
Meghalaya police arrested three Muslim persons with sizeable quantity of heroin worth Rs 14 crores in Ri Bhoi District on intervening night of Thursday- Friday
Police said while conducting Naka checking for illegal consignments and goods at Mawdaron Saiden, under Nongpoh Police Station, Ri Bhoi District Meghalaya, one passenger bus bearing registration number MN 01AA 0484, coming from Manipur via Assam was intercepted and detained by the Naka party in the early morning of Friday.
Later, thorough checking of the above mentioned vehicle was conducted and 158 (One hundred fifty eight) soap boxes containing suspected contraband were recovered from the said vehicle.
A preliminary test was conducted at the spot and the result showed positive for heroin.
Police said recovered contrabands weighed about 1.85 Kg with an estimated international market value of 14 Crores.
Three persons were arrested and a case under the NDPS Act is registered at Nongpoh PS and investigation is on.
The arrested are Rashijuddin(33) of Kwakta, Bishnupur, Manipur, Saddam Husain (34) of Kwakta Islambad Leikai Moirang,Bishnupur District, Manipur and Md Iqbal Husain (31) of Kwakta Islambad Leikai Moirang, Bishnupur District, Manipur.
One hundred fifty eight) boxes of high-grade heroin of net weight of 1.85Kg with an estimated present market value of 14 Cr and 3 (three) mobile phones were seized.
One Bus bearing registration number MN 01AA0484 was also detained as it was used for the commission of crime.
