Dumping of solid wastes in Wah Umkhen prohibited

The incharge District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has promulgated an Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting dumping of solid waste along the stretch of Umkhen River, East Khasi Hills District.

This Order is necessitated following reports that solid waste is being dumped indiscriminately in the Umkhen river and along certain stretches of Wah Rting and other drainage connected to Umkhen river. Such act of polluting the river if allowed to continue is likely to cause health hazards and also affect the environment of the area.

This Order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
