East Jaintia Hills SP among 5 IPS officers transfered
In a minor reshuffle, the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government has transferred five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers on Saturday.
According to a notification issued by the Secretary in-charge Home (Police) department, CVD Diengdoh, East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Deepak Kumar Palecha was transferred and posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law & Order).
The transfer of the district police chief also came after six coal labourers were killed in an illegal coal mining accident at Sorkar near Rymbai village in East Jaintia Hills district, last month.
It also came after FIRs were filed against several individuals including Bison Shylla, the brother of Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla for their alleged involvement in the illegal mining of coal in the district.
Meanwhile, the state government has transferred and posted Jagpal Singh Dhanoa as the new SP of East Jaintia Hills district.
The other officials who were transferred include Rituraj Ravi as SP of South Garo Hills district, Siddharth Kumar Ambedkar as SP of South West Garo Hills district and Priyanshu Pandey as SP (VIS).
