East Khasi Hills DM enforces section 163 BNSS on overloaded hay trucks

The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District promulgated Section 163 BNSS prohibiting the plying of overloaded hay-laden trucks/pickups plying from Mawtawar-Mawsiatkhnam Road across the city of Shillong.

The order was issued on the basis of report that plying of overloading vehicles will pose a significant safety hazard as they may come in contact with electric wires resulting in a major fire incident.

Moreover, hays falling from such trucks are found littering roads and localities creating a nuisance and undermining the efforts of the annual cleaning drive of the localities.

Any violation to this order shall be prosecuted under Section 223 of the BNSS, the order added.
