  • East Khasi Hills dominates Badminton at Meghalaya Games, sweep all 4 gold medals

    On the penultimate day of the 5th edition of the Meghalaya Games, the badminton tourney ended today with all 4 golds up for grabs being swept by the district of East Khasi Hills. 

    In the first final for the day, the Girls singles, won by Netania Tariang of EKH who beat WKH’s Shimtihum Lyngdoh. The bronze medals were taken by Nihaka Lamare and Sengei Wasa D Shira. 

    This was followed by the girl’s doubles where once again, the team of Netania and Carylnda Nongbri beat the pair from West Khasi Hills Shimtihun Lyngdoh and Doreenzia Kharbani. The bronze medal was won by West Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills. 

    It was an all EKH final in the boy’s singles where Raynel Kharbuki beat his compatriot, Stephen Marwein while bronze was shared by Mewan Lamkupar and Raymond Ronghang. 

    Raynel then paired up with Pratham Majumdar to take his second gold medal beating the WJH’s pair of Banshabor Lamare and Lechan Suchiang. Bronze was shared by the pairs of Ribhoi’s Babrean Momin and Raymond Ronghang and WGH’s Gaurav Dutta and Biswajit Ghosh.
