Eco friendly crematorium inaugurated in Jowai for Hindu community
The Hindu community in Jowai rejoices as the Kambel Shullai Eco-Friendly Crematorium of Seiñraij Jowai was inaugurated by Wailadmiki Shylla, Jowai MLA and Chairman of MUDA, on March 12.
This eco-conscious facility, nestled at Khliehtyrshi along the bypass road from Khliehtyrshi to Treiongriang, embodies the collaborative spirit between the Jowai Municipal Board and the devoted members of the Hindu Samaj Committee residing in Jowai Town.
Funded by the 15th Finance Commission Award at a cost of Rs 37 lakh, with the land graciously donated by Dorbar Shnong Khliehtyrshi, this project epitomizes a harmonious blend of community spirit and ecological responsibility.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Philanderwell Lyngdoh, the Chairman of JMB, in the presence of Executive Member JHADC Lakhon Dkhar, Chief Executive Officer of JMB, DV Lyngdoh (MCS), Seiñraij Jowai President H. Toi, Dolloi of Elaka Jowai Puramon Kynjing, Waheh Chnong of Khliehtyrshi village Kitbok Rymbai, President of the Shmashana Committee Sir De, among others
In his address, Shylla underscored the multifaceted needs of Jowai town and emphasized the paramount importance of environmental conservation, drawing on his role as the Chairman of the Environment Committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. He articulated the significance of championing projects that uplift minority communities and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Urban Affairs Department and the Government for their unwavering support in realizing the crematorium project.
Shylla also announced plans for the construction of an electric crematorium and the project is set to be tendered soon.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Seiñriaj Jowai President H. Toi, Dolloi of Elaka Jowai Puramon Kynjing, Waheh Chnong of Khliehtyrshi village Kitbok Rymbai, and President of the Shmashana Committee Sir De, while Chief Executive Officer of JMB, DV Lyngdoh (MCS), proposed the vote of thanks.
