EKH and Ri Bhoi advance to Women’s Football final; Ri Bhoi and WKH secure spots in U17 Boys’ final
The semi-final matches of the Women’s Senior Football category at the 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 were action-packed, showcasing remarkable skill and determination on the lush green turf of Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Jowai.
In the first match, held early in the morning, Ri Bhoi District triumphed over West Jaintia Hills District with a convincing 2-0 victory. The goals were scored by Daphisha Syngkli and Pynibha Rangthaluh, securing their place in the final for the second consecutive season.
In the second semi-final, East Khasi Hills District edged past South West Khasi Hills District in a thrilling 2-1 encounter. Sanfida Nongrum was the star of the match, scoring both goals for East Khasi Hills, while Darishisha Kharlyngdoh scored for South West Khasi Hills.
The semi-final matches in the Under-17 Boys category also provided fans with intense action, both culminating in dramatic tiebreakers. The first match remained goalless in full time, with Ri Bhoi edging out West Jaintia Hills in a nail-biting 4-3 victory during the tiebreaker.
The second semi-final saw West Khasi Hills emerge victorious over Southwest Khasi Hills in yet another thrilling tiebreaker, with a scoreline of 5-4.
